Costa Del Croydon wraps up another summer on the rooftop

Costa Del Croydon has officially wrapped up for another year, bringing four weeks of sunshine, sand, splash zones, entertainment and community activity to the heart of Croydon.

From 7th – 31st August, the rooftop at Centrale & Whitgift was transformed into Costa Del Croydon, giving visitors the chance to enjoy a summer beach experience without leaving South London.

Across the month, thousands of visitors made their way to the rooftop to enjoy the beach, splash zones and family-friendly activities, alongside a programme designed to bring Croydon’s communities, creatives and local talent together.

A summer for everyone

This year’s Costa Del Croydon programme included something for all ages, from family activities and creative workshops to dance, fitness and live entertainment.

Visitors could get involved with everything from Afro-Caribbean dance and street dance to graffiti workshops, slime workshops, family yoga and the ever-popular Bingo on the Beach.

The rooftop also introduced the Beach Club, with adult-only sessions bringing DJs, dance, drag and summer evening vibes to the beach. The new programme helped Costa Del Croydon reach new audiences while giving regular visitors another reason to return.

The event also provided a platform for local talent and organisations, in partnership with the CEZ “Love me: Croydon sessions” Croydon-based singers, DJs, bands, performers and creatives were given a spotlight on their work helping to bring the programme to life.

Bringing people together

Costa Del Croydon has become a much-loved part of the summer calendar in Croydon, creating a space where residents, families and visitors can come together and enjoy something different in the town centre.

The event also supported Croydon Council’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme this year, with more than 300 children attending Costa Del Croydon through the programme during the summer holidays.

The rooftop has also welcomed a range of community and stakeholder activity throughout the summer, highlighting the role that spaces such as Costa Del Croydon can play.
