From Swifties to Stormzy: Croydon in the Spotlight

Croydon has found itself on the global stage this month and in unmistakable Style thanks to Taylor Swift’s new Opalite music video, filmed at the Whitgift Centre.

The 90s-inspired film transforms familiar corners of the centre, including its now iconic escalator, into a vibrant, bejewelled backdrop that has left fans truly enchanted, viewed by millions worldwide.

Of course, Croydon’s musical heritage runs deep and Long Live that tradition. From the BRIT School, which helped launch artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse and Jessie J, to homegrown talent like Stormzy, Croydon fosters creativity.

Fans have been visiting the town centre to recreate scenes and see the location for themselves, bringing a fresh wave of energy and attention to a place that has long been part of Croydon’s own Love Story, helping the town centre shake off a few outdated perceptions along the way.
