16th – 17th May 2026 , 12:00pm – 6:00pm – Whitgift Centre and North End, Croydon
A weekend celebrating Asian arts, creativity and community.
Sounds from across the continent will fill the streets with live music. Performances range from Faraz Eshghi on Iranian Kamancheh through to The Bollywood Brass Band; from Wang Xiao on Chinese Erhu and Cheng Yu on Pipa, through to a high energy set from DJ Bobby Friction.
A joyful programme of dance in Whitgift Square will take you on a journey of traditions from across Asia, from Balinese and Sri Lankan masked dancers; to beautiful Chinese fan dances; and even a Flamenco- Bharatanatyam fusion. While you’re there, be surprised by spectacular large-scale puppetry – including a chance to meet Hanuman the Monkey God, see the spectacular Vietnamese Lion dance, take part in arts and crafts workshops including Origami, Chinese knotting, and Anatolian Tile Painting and have your hand henna painted.
All events and workshops are FREE!
The weekend takes its inspiration from Henri Rousseau’s tiger painting, Surprised!, which you can see in The Whitgift Centre as part of the ongoing The National Gallery: Art On Your Doorstep.
