Pollock’s Toy Museum, one of the oldest toy museums in the UK opening in The Whitgift
Pollock’s Toy Museum is bringing their much-loved collection of puppets, optical toys, teddy bears, tin toys, dolls and dolls’ houses, games, folk and traditional toys from around the world to Croydon.
The museum is excited to find a new temporary home in the Whitgift Centre as part of the London Borough of Culture, where a mini museum and a lively programme of workshops are in preparation.
The new Croydon pop-up will open for the first time on the 9th December from 10-4 for a special pre-Christmas preview. From January the museum will be open on Saturdays and additional days during the week. The museum is a volunteer-run charity and would welcome more volunteers to help open more often, For more information please see www.pollockstoymuseum.co.uk.
The museum will feature a mini exhibition celebrating a local toy factory, A Barton & Co Toys who were based in New Addington alongside a display of Tri-ang toys made by Lines Bros who were based nearby in Merton. There will also be a range of workshops for all ages. Details of opening times and events will be announced soon.
