Centrale & Whitgift Shopping Centres opened its new Multi-Faith Room today (Friday 23rd May), providing a dedicated space for worship, prayer, and quiet reflection in the heart of Croydon.
The opening coincided with World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, a global observance that highlights the importance of understanding and respecting cultural and religious differences.
Located on the Lower Mall in Centrale, the Multi-Faith Room is open to all visitors, offering separate male and female prayer rooms and ablution facilities. A code of conduct is in place to ensure the space remains respectful and welcoming to everyone who uses it.
“This new facility reflects the diversity of the community we serve,” said Phil Crawley, General Manager for Centrale & Whitgift. “We’re proud to provide a calm, inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds can pause, reflect, or pray during their time at the centres.”
Opening hours are:
- Monday to Saturday: 10:00 – 18:00
- Sunday: 11:00 – 16:00
Shoppers and local residents have welcomed the addition, describing it as a thoughtful enhancement to the centre’s amenities and a reflection of Croydon’s vibrant multicultural identity.
