Centrale is proud to launch a new TRAID textile bank, giving visitors an easy and sustainable way to recycle unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, accessories and other textiles. You’ll find the textile bank conveniently located on the ground floor opposite Superdrug.
By donating, shoppers will be supporting TRAID, a UK-based charity retailer (Reg. No. 297489) working to reduce fashion waste and promote fairer conditions for the people who make our clothes. TRAID collects, sorts, and sells quality second-hand clothing across its London shops, giving garments a fresh lease of life while keeping them out of landfill. Beyond the UK, TRAID also funds organic cotton farming and supports garment workers worldwide, advocating for a more sustainable and fair fashion industry.
Every donation made at Centrale helps to reduce waste, protect the environment, and create positive change both locally and globally.
Artwork by Stanley Arts
Making the new textile bank even more special is the eye-catching artwork created by Stanley Arts, which surrounds and decorates the donation point. The colourful designs highlight the shared commitment between Centrale, TRAID and Stanley Arts to protect the environment and spark community conversations around sustainability.
The artwork was designed by Croydon-based illustrator and workshop facilitator Skye Baker, commissioned as part of Stanley Arts’ Arcadia Festival. This festival showcased the creative responses of 75 local young people to the climate crisis, in partnership with Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation (CYTO), Birdgang Ltd., Croydon Youth Assembly (CYA), Boundless Theatre and Syrus Consultancy CIC.
Through dance, theatre, music, film, immersive installations and interactive games, the festival invited audiences to imagine a future where people and nature thrive in harmony. Arcadia was made possible with funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
